Meet Our Mentors
Melia Weeks

"I'm a rising junior from Mebane, North Carolina studying Economics at UNC Chapel Hill with a minor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Within the UNC community, I serve on the executive board of Carolina Economics Club and as the financial analyst for a fellow student at Paper + Polymer. My academic interests are in Gender and Labor Economics, data analysis, and the history of economic thought. In my free time, I enjoy bullet journaling, reading poetry, gardening, and starting new DIY projects. I consider myself a team player and a goal-oriented planner, so I am very excited to get to know an apprentice through S2s this summer!"
Sofia Macedo Costa De Oliveira

"My name is Sofia Macedo Costa De Oliveira and I am a sophomore at UNC-Chapel Hill hoping to major in Nutrition and minoring in Medical Anthropology. I am studying in a pre-med track, as I plan to attend medical school in the future. I was originally born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but I spent the latter of my educational years in Chapel Hill. I graduated from Carrboro High School, where I was fortunate to have many excellent teachers and mentors. I aspire to share the knowledge I've gained from my teachers and professors by serving as a mentor to a student. High school and the college application process can be stressful without a guide or resources, so I hope to help alleviate that stress!"

I am looking forward to serving as a mentor and a friend through this program."
